So I found a set of SSR GT1s in very good condition with a practically new set of tires on them but the wheel width is 7" (They are 17” x 7.0" 5x114.3 +45 offset SSR Integral GT1 Rims with 215/45/17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires). I currenly have stock wheels. My questions are: 1) Will these wheels & tires fit (I believe they will), and 2) what are the issues (if any) with going smaller on the wheel width. I feel like I should be going wider if anything, but I have had such a hard time finding wheels that I like, if it doesn't ruin the performance, then what's the problem with it? Some of the old posts I read say don't go smaller but they don't say why. Taking out personal opinion, is there anything WRONG with going to a 7" wheel width? Will I lose anything when it comes to handling or performance? Will the 215 wheel look considerably smaller vs the 225 stock wheel? I am considering buying the GT1s because I like the look. I don't race, and the car is a weekend driver. I don't want the smaller wheel to look stupid, but I don't know that one could tell the difference of .5" by looking at them. I look forward to your responses. Thanks.
